We have said it before and we will say it again… WordCamp is not just a conference, it is a community event. WordCamp 2020 is just around the corner and we want to deliver an event that is all about the community. What better way to start than to involve the community in speaker selection. WordCamp Phoenix is seeking a small group of community volunteers who will do a “blind review” of all speaker submissions. Your feedback will be vital as we select the speakers for WordCamp 2020.
Details: If selected to be a community reviewer, we will provide you with a specific set of criteria and guidelines to use in scoring each submission. I will prepare a spreadsheet and share it with you on the morning of November 23rd. We will need your input completed by 5:00 pm on December 4th. This is a hard deadline because the committee will take your feedback and continue with the review. Please apply, ONLY if you are able to meet this deadline.
Time Commitment: Much of this depends on how long you spend reading and reviewing each submission. I can tell you that we will probably have at least 100 submissions and very possibly more. So if you spend 2 minutes reading and rating each submission, the total time for 100 submissions will be a little over 3 hours (not necessarily at one sitting). Everyone on the panel who completes their review will be considered a volunteer and will receive a free ticket to WordCamp and a volunteer t-shirt.
Note – if you plan to apply to speak, please do not volunteer as a community reviewer.
Thank you so much,
