WordCamp Phoenix was one of the first WordCamps to include a WP101 workshop and we continue this tradition in 2019 as we celebrate 10 years of WordCamps in the Valley of the Sun.
Whether you’re brand new to websites, want an introduction to WordPress or are in need of a refresh, this workshop (over 2.5 hours!) is a great way to get hands-on guidance on Friday morning so you can benefit from subsequent sessions! Free, temporary web hosting accounts with WordPress preinstalled will be provided for all workshop attendees.
Due to high demand and nature of this workshop, we are requiring attendees to register in advance, though there is no additional cost.
Where? WordCamp Phoenix at the Phoenix Convention Center.
When? Friday, February 15th 2019 from 9:30 AM to 11:55 AM.
Who? This workshop will be led by Jamie Schmid.
What (should I bring)? Please bring a fully-charged laptop or tablet.
Registration is now closed.
Registrations without tickets or made
before purchase will not be honored.
I filled out the form to register for WP101 and checked the box that said I had already purchased a ticket, but it then it asks me to purchase a ticket. I don’t know if my WP101 registration has gone through or if there’s a glitch in the registration page. I really, really want to take this class. It’s the main reason I’ve signed up for WordCamp. Please advise.
Hi Karen,
You’re all set! That registration form and ticket system aren’t connected. We look forward to seeing you in February!
Thank you. I’m looking forward to it.
Will you be having a convention in the Reno, NV area?
Hi Cheryl,
WordCamps are all events organized by local volunteers, with the assistance of the WordPress.org Community Team — we’re just the team in Greater Phoenix. You can check https://central.wordcamp.org/schedule/ and your local meetup group.
Hi David – it gave me the same prompt – I already purchased my ticket. Thank you!
Hi Anna,
That prompt is static on the page as a warning. You’re registered for the workshop — we’ll see you next month!
What topics will be covered in the workshop? I’m new to wordpress, but I understand the basics like hosting, dashboard, and themes. As an indicator the I built the site below. However, I did use the page builder elementor.

Hi Alejandro,
The workshop is truly starting from the beginning, covering basics like hosting, admin dashboard and themes. I’m sure you could pick up a few things, but it may not be the best fit. We do have a dedicated digital commerce track and many other sessions that you could gain some value from!
