{"id":541,"date":"2022-12-08T15:57:33","date_gmt":"2022-12-08T22:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/phoenix.wordcamp.org\/2023\/?page_id=541"},"modified":"2023-03-16T15:54:44","modified_gmt":"2023-03-16T22:54:44","slug":"volunteers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/phoenix.wordcamp.org\/2023\/volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"Volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-tertiary-color has-text-color\">Volunteers<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>WordCamp Phoenix is organized and run entirely by volunteers and we need <em>you<\/em> to help make it a success!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volunteering is a wonderful way to give back to the local WordPress community and it&#8217;s the best way to meet other WordPressers and make new friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome <em>anyone<\/em> to apply to volunteer, no matter your abilities! You don&#8217;t need any prior experience and you don&#8217;t need to be a WordPress or WordCamp veteran. No specialized skills are required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please read through the following to get an idea of the responsibilities for volunteers, and feel free to <a href=\"https:\/\/phoenix.wordcamp.org\/2023\/contact\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"17\">contact<\/a> Thomas Levy, our Volunteer Wrangler. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Volunteer Duties<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We will all share responsibility for the following tasks, and if your abilities mean one task is more fitting than others, we will absolutely accommodate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Registration<\/strong> \u2013 At the registration table you&#8217;ll greet and check-in the WordCamp attendees and provide them with their badges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Swag<\/strong> \u2013 At the swag table you&#8217;ll distribute conference t-shirts, stickers, buttons, and other awesome swag!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Room Monitor<\/strong> \u2013 As a room monitor you&#8217;ll help our speakers set up for their presentation, facilitate Q&amp;A sessions, and ensure speakers stay on schedule.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lunch Facilitator<\/strong> \u2013 When lunch is served, you&#8217;ll help direct attendees to the eating area and help ensure no one returns to the presentation rooms hungry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Setup and tear down<\/strong> \u2013 A few hours prior to the start of the event you&#8217;ll help setup and you&#8217;ll stay late to aid with cleanup after the attendees leave.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>General help<\/strong> \u2013 You are a friendly and helpful resource for all our attendees. You don&#8217;t have to know the answer to every question but you&#8217;ll know who to find when you&#8217;re stumped.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things to Note<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Time Commitment<\/strong> \u2013 Ideally you are able to volunteer for two full days (Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25) and we ask that you only apply if you can commit for at least one full day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Code of Conduct<\/strong> \u2013 As a volunteer, you agree to adhere to the <a href=\"https:\/\/phoenix.wordcamp.org\/2023\/code-of-conduct\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"21\">WordCamp Code of Conduct<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Free Admission<\/strong> \u2013 You will be provided with free admission to the conference but you are expected to work. You will have plenty of time to enjoy the conference but your first responsibility is to your volunteer responsibilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conference Tickets<\/strong> \u2013 Applying <em>does not guarantee <\/em>you will be accepted as a volunteer. If you&#8217;re worried about not getting a general admission ticket we suggest you buy a ticket today. If you&#8217;re accepted as a volunteer we will refund your ticket!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scheduling<\/strong> \u2013 You will be provided with a schedule prior to the conference.
