It’s an exciting time here in the Greater Phoenix WordPress community! We just had a WordCamp in October with 300 of y’all and we’re just 90 days from our next camp with multiple tracks and capacity for up to 600 campers!<\/p>\r\n\r\n

On Friday, February 16 & Saturday, February 17, WordCamp Phoenix will be at at Galvanize Phoenix, a 90,000 square foot technology and education campus just a 15 minute walk from the heart of Downtown Phoenix (Check out our Instagram<\/a> for a peek of what to expect).<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u00a0We’ll be celebrating Saturday evening at a location to be announced.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We do an application process for WordCamp volunteers to cover a variety of duties related to running a nonprofit, low-cost and community-oriented event. We’ll post that application soon<\/strong>!<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Why the larger camp?\"\"<\/em><\/h4>\r\n\r\n

This roughly 40-50 percent more capacity than we’ve had in previous years! The demand is there — every year we sell out weeks ahead with gentle marketing and turn away dozens. We received 70 speaker submissions for 16 session slots in 2017 and have a large Meetup group with 2,200+ members. Plus according to the U.S. Census Bureau, Phoenix is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas<\/a> in the United States — On average over 220 people moved to Maricopa County per day in 2016<\/a>, more than any other county in the United States.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Downtown Phoenix\u00a0is emerging as a technology hub<\/a>.\u00a0And it’s not only Phoenix<\/a> — It’s Tempe<\/a>, It’s East Mesa<\/a>\u00a0— it’s the whole Valley<\/a>.\u00a0Arizona’s tech sector is growing<\/a>, with recent reports indicating thousands of open jobs at\u00a0Phoenix-area technology companies<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
